Women's Golf Opens Central Regional Tied for 13th Place

AUSTIN, Texas - The Alabama women's golf team opened the NCAA Central Regional Thursday with a round one score of 304 (+16) to sit in a tie with Pepperdine for 13th place. Top seeded UCLA paces the field at the University of Texas Golf Club with a 283 (-5). The No. 3 seeded Crimson Tide was led by freshman Camilla Lennarth. The Stockholm, Sweden native currently sits tied for 18th place after firing a first round score of 73 (+1). Lennarth carded two birdies and 13 pars in the round. Fellow freshman Courtney Harter turned in a first round score of 75 (+3). The newcomer sits tied for 39th place after sinking birdies on three holes, including the tough par-4, 18th. Junior Kathleen Ekey tallied a first round score of 77 (+5). Ekey currently ranks tied for 57th in the field after sinking two birdies and a eagle on the par-5, fifth. Sophomore Helena Blomberg carded a 79 (+7) while senior Sarah Sturm rounded out Alabama with an 82 (+10). Blomberg sank two birdies while Sturm hit 10 pars. Blomberg sits tied for 73rd place while Sturm follows in a tie for 92nd. Alabama will continue to be paired with UCLA and Purdue for the second round. The three squads will begin to tee-off on the 10th hole at 1:20 p.m.
