The Alabama women's golf team slipped into a tie for eighth place on Saturday in the second round of the Darius Ricker Intercollegiate on the par-71, 6,233-yard Long Cove Club.
The two-time defending champion at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, the Crimson Tide shot 22-over 306 to join Virginia in eighth at 31-over 599. No. 3 Duke continues to lead at 7-over 575 after a 7-over 291 in the second rounds. Vanderbilt is second at 15-over 583 followed by South Carolina (590), North Carolina (592) and LSU (593).
Senior Stephanie Meadow enters Sunday's round with a one shot lead individually at 3-under-par 139 after carding a 1-over 72 in Saturday's second round. Duke's Celine Boutier and LSU's Caroline Nistrup are tied for second at 2-under 140.
Meadow, from Jordanstown, Northern Ireland, spent her high school years in her adopted hometown of Hilton Head Island, S.C., at the Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy. She won the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in her first trip back home in 2012 and finished third last year.
The final two holes provided Alabama the most difficulty in round two as the Crimson Tide posted an 11-over total on the 17th and 18th holes.
Junior Daniela Lendl shot 76 in the second round and is tied for 30th at 8-over 150. Hannah Collier is next in a tie for 60th at 13-over 155 after shooting 80 Saturday. Emma Talley and Mia Landegren are tied for 69th at 15-over par. Landegren shot 78 in round two while Talley posted an 80.
The Crimson Tide is paired with Arkansas and Virginia in the final round Sunday at the Long Cove Club.
