The women's basketball team returns to the hardwood on Monday, Nov. 19, when it welcomes North Texas to Foster Auditorium. Tipoff is slated for 6:30 p.m. CT.
Monday's game marks the second in the series and first being played in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide and Mean Green last met on Dec. 7, 2011, in a game that went in favor of North Texas, 69-63.
Alabama enters the contest with a 3-0 record after wins over Jacksonville State, Houston and Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Tide is averaging 80.7 points per game, over 15 points more than it was averaging at this point last season, outscoring opponents by 21.7 points per game. Alabama has committed 17.3 fewer turnovers than its opponents and averages over 20 steals per outing.
Junior Shafontaye Myers leads the Tide in scoring through three games at 16.3 points per game. She is followed by junior Jasmine Robinson and sophomore Daisha Simmons, who have contributed 12.0 points per game apiece. Senior Alicia Mitcham and sophomore Kaneisha Horn have been Alabama's top rebounders, combining for nearly 12 rebounds per contest.
North Texas will play its second of four straight road games on Monday night, having recently taken on SMU in Dallas. The Mean Green is 0-2 on the season, but both games were decided by five points or less.
North Texas is averaging 73.0 points per game and has three players averaging double-figure points, led by junior Alexis Hyder's 15.5 point contribution per contest. The Mean Green is also collecting 7.5 more rebounds per game than its opponents and has been stellar at the free throw line, hitting 85.4 percent of its attempts.
