The Crimson Tide women’s basketball team will celebrate Thanksgiving in an enviable location this November, as Alabama will travel to St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands to compete in the 2005 Paradise Jam. Also competing at the event will be Minnesota, Nevada and Virginia on Nov. 25 and 26.
The tournament schedule has the Tide facing Virginia in the opening round of the event on Nov. 25 at noon (CT). Virginia, a member of the ACC, had a 21-11 mark in 2004-05, advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
In the other first round game, Minnesota will face Nevada. Minnesota defeated Virginia in the 2005 NCAA Tournament second round before bowing out to eventual national champion Baylor in the NCAA Regional Semifinal. Nevada posted an 8-22 mark a season ago.
The winner of the Alabama-Virginia game will advance to play the winner of the Minnesota-Nevada matc-up in the Paradise Jam Championship game, to be played on Nov. 26 at 2:30 p.m. (CT). The losers will face-off in the consolation final on Nov. 26 at noon (CT).
