TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -
Four postseason teams from a year ago, including two that finished in the top 25, highlight the 2014 women's basketball non-conference schedule, which was announced by head coach Kristy Curry
"We will once again be challenged throughout our non-conference schedule, facing some of the top teams in the nation," said Curry. "That will certainly help to prepare us for when we enter the daily rigors of the Southeastern Conference slate."
The Crimson Tide opens the season with three-straight home games beginning with Florida A&M on Nov. 14, followed by Duke (Nov. 16) and Jacksonville State (Nov. 18). From there, Alabama heads to Lawrence, Kan., for three of its four games in the Hall of Fame Women's Challenge, where it will take on Kansas, Georgetown and Temple in consecutive days, Nov. 21-23. The Tide will play its final home game of the month on Nov. 26, hosting Alabama A&M, before traveling to Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., for the last game of the Hall of Fame Challenge against Quinnipiac on Nov. 30.
All of Alabama's games in December will be played in Tuscaloosa with the first coming on Dec. 2 against South Carolina Upstate. The remaining non-conference slate includes UT Martin (Dec. 4), Nebraska (Dec. 7), Mercer (Dec. 14), Arkansas - Pine Bluff (Dec. 16), New Orleans (Dec. 21) and Mississippi Valley State (Dec. 28).
"We are looking forward to playing a great non-conference home schedule in front of our fans at Foster Auditorium," added Curry. "They help to create an electric home-court atmosphere that we feed off of. The team has been working extremely hard throughout the summer, and we are so excited to get this season underway."
