Alabama Head Coach Kristy Curry
Opening Statement:
“It was an unbelievable effort by two teams battling, who shot the ball really well, and it was a fun game to be a part of. I am really proud of my team with the fight and character and the toughness. To out-rebound them by 20 and to find a way down the stretch to make critical free throws (was big). Credit our crowd, and credit everyone that came out. It was a great game, and a lot of fun.”

On the progression since the 0-3 start:
“They have been working so hard. What a confidence booster for them. I asked each one of them to think of something positive they did and something they can improve on. There were a lot of moments tonight where we did some things we need to learn from, but there were also positives. Good teams find a way to win, and I was really proud of them tonight.”

On the performance of Daisha Simmons:
“She was so aggressive and wanted the basketball in her hands. She made great decisions. I think what might be more impressive than the triple-double was how long she played with four fouls. Just her poise and her maturity tonight were great. She willed her team to a win. It was with her head and her heart. That’s why she is a great player. It was a fun thing to watch.”

On Shafontaye Myers’ three-pointer that sent the game into overtime:
“She is fearless. She can really shoot the basketball. I knew it was going in the minute it left her hands. It was a perfect angle from where I was, and she did that pretty much all night for us.”

On the comeback in the second half:
“We just kept fighting in the end. The coaches believed in us, and we never gave up. Even when I missed two crucial free throws, we never gave up.”

On how Shafontaye Myers shot the ball and the contribution of others on the team:
“She (Shafontaye Myers) hit a big shot down the stretch. Then with Ashley (Williams) getting 22 (points) and 11 (rebounds), everybody just gave their all tonight.”

On getting a triple-double:
“I didn’t know until the end. Someone was telling me to get another rebound, and I didn’t know why. At the end of the game they told me. I have to give a lot of credit to my teammates. They fought really hard.”

On how the team has progressed after the 0-3 start:
“Every day in practice we come out and work hard. Some days are not our best days, but we try not to get down on ourselves. The coaches believe in us so much and help us get better every day.”
