TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The women's basketball team dropped a 58-52 decision to Wofford on Monday at Foster Auditorium in front of over 2,000 Tuscaloosa fifth graders. With the loss, the Crimson Tide dips to 6-3 on the season while the Terriers improve to 5-3 overall.

"The way we play we need the game to be in the 70s and 80s to be successful," said Alabama head coach Wendell Hudson. "I have to give Wofford credit. They hung in there and did what they needed to do to win the game. They made every shot and free throw they needed to make."

Senior Meghan Perkins led the game in scoring with 18 points while sophomore Kaneisha Horn pulled down a team-best eight rebounds. For the Terriers, senior Daniella Motley recorded the game's lone double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds.

Alabama was unable to get anything going offensively over the first four minutes, hitting only one of its first 11 attempts. The Tide then went on to score eight unanswered points, taking a 10-5 lead with 14:13 to play in the half. Alabama led by as many as nine before the Terriers strung together a 12-2 run to take the lead back at the 1:47 mark. A jumper from Horn on the ensuing play gave the Tide a 24-23 edge. Alabama would head into the locker room with a three-point advantage, leading Wofford, 26-23.

Alabama struggled offensively again to start the second half, hitting just two of its 12 attempts over the first eight minutes. During that stretch, the Terriers were able to score 17 points, including 15 straight. With Wofford up by 10, the Tide rattled off six unanswered to bring the score to 40-36 with 7:28 remaining. From there, the Terriers went on an 11-6 run to pull ahead by nine before Alabama cut it to three at the 2:14 mark. The Tide would not get any closer for the duration of the game as Wofford scored seven of the last 10 points.

For the game, Alabama managed 33.3 percent from the floor, hitting 23 of its 69 attempts. For the first time this season, the Tide was unable to connect on a three-pointer, going 0-for-12 from long range. Wofford hit 40.0 percent (20-50) for the game and out-rebounded Alabama, 44-37.

Next up, the Tide will host Virginia on Friday, Dec. 21, at Foster Auditorium. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m. CT.
