Head Coach Wendell Hudson
Opening Statement:
“We got a lot better tonight by sharing the basketball. We had 18 assists and 19 turnovers in the game, but we’ll take that because the team was trying to make the extra pass tonight. I like that a lot. The most impressive thing we did though is play with a lot of attention. We didn’t come out too fast. We came out strong and played consistently. We shared the basketball a lot and were able to get the ball to our center. When you share the basketball, you’re able to play better basketball. We played with a sense of urgency, and we’ll continue to keep getting better throughout the season.”

On the play of junior guard Meghan Perkins:
“Meghan will continue to get better. She’s not at 100 percent right now. She’s a special player though. Unfortunately, we didn’t have Kyra Crosby and Jessica Merritt tonight. They will be out for a while. If we can get all our players healthy and get all of our young players used to playing with each other, we can be a great basketball team. We just haven’t had that continuity. Eight players knew they were playing tonight. That helped us play well together in this ball game.”

On bouncing back from the loss on Tuesday against Central Arkansas:
“We watched film after the game. A lot of the times what you end up doing is trying to talk to the players. But once we watched the film, we realized we could have easily won that game by making our layups regardless of anything else. The point though is we were missing our layups, and we needed to correct that. We practiced on that and other things in practice this week. We just tried to simplify things and make it easier for the players this week.”

No. 23 Ericka Russell, Guard
On difference in tonight coming off of the loss:
“We came out with a lot of energy. That was the main focus. When we went to Central Arkansas, we did not play with a lot of energy and a lot of passion, so that is what we wanted to emphasize tonight.”

On playing as a team:
“That’s how we practice. We know that we have a great team, and we have a lot of girls that can come out and help us. We know that we need to come out and play as a team to be effective. That was our game plan coming in, and that’s what we tried to stick to.”

No. 10 Meghan Perkins, Guard
On her game performance:
“I focused on being in the right place and doing what I was supposed to do. We moved the ball well as a team that way a lot of people can get open shots and share the ball.”

On game preparation:
“Mainly in practice we focused on Alabama basketball and getting better as a team. We will go over what the other team does, but we mainly focus on ourselves.”
