TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Junior Shafontaye Myers led a balanced offensive attack with 15 points to help the Crimson Tide defeat Stillman College, 94-39, on Monday night in an exhibition game in Foster Auditorium.

"I thought we played real hard as a basketball team," said Alabama head coach Wendell Hudson. "We played a lot of combinations of people, which has been fun to have. Defensively, we were trying to do a lot of different things, and the players are picking it up faster than we thought they would."

Alabama played all 14 of its players that were available for the game, with 13 of them seeing 10 or more minutes. Senior Jessica Merritt, sophomore Kaneisha Horn and freshman Jasmine Steele joined Myers with double figure points as they finished with 12, 11, and 10 points, respectively. Senior Alicia Mitcham recorded a game-high 10 rebounds, while sophomore Briana Hutchen added another eight.

The Tide would never trail in the game as Myers scored the opening basket to put Alabama on the board first. A 24-9 run, spanning eight minutes through the first half gave the Tide a significant buffer, putting the game out of reach for the Lady Tigers.

Alabama finished the game shooting 40.2 percent from the field. The Tide forced 45 turnovers, 27 of which came from steals. Alabama also dominated on the boards with 58 total rebounds, 33 of which were on the offensive glass. The Tide kept the scoring well distributed with 52 points from the bench.

Alabama returns to the court on Sunday, Nov. 11, against Jacksonville State at Foster Auditorium for its first regular-season game. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT. Tickets are on sale and can be purchased on RollTide.com or by phone at 1-877-TIDETIX (843-3849).
