Heather Mesalam Position: Director of Basketball Operations Experience: Second Year Alma Mater: The University of Alabama, 2008

Heather Mesalam enters her second season as Director of Basketball Operations for the Crimson Tide. In this position, she is responsible for handling the day-to-day operations of the program, coordinating team travel, serving as camp director, preparing workout and gym schedules, team ticket requests and serving as the liaison between academics, equipment and compliance.

Prior to joining the women's basketball program, Mesalam was a four-year manager for the Crimson Tide men's basketball team where she was head manager for the last two years. In addition, Mesalam was the first female manager on the men's team at the Capstone and first student-appointed head manager. Her main duties as a manager included supervising the other five student managers, handling practice logistics and assisting with drills, supervising and monitoring on and off-season workouts, taking care of player guest tickets, equipment, statistics and charting of substitutions at both home and away games, acting as an office administrative assistant and coordinating and planning team functions.

From 2005-2008, Mesalam was camp coordinator of the Bama Hoops Basketball Camp where she managed logistics for nearly all camp functions, organized fundamental skills stations and coordinated the program for the camp. She also served as committee leader for the Shoot for Life campaign in Tuscaloosa, a fundraiser assisting the need of those that are under-insured and fighting cancer. Here, Mesalam was responsible for writing and presenting corporate sponsor proposals, planning and executing the marketing campaign, event and sponsorships, and coordinating celebrity guest appearances and venue selection.

During the summer of 2005, Mesalam interned at Real Life Marketing in Indianapolis, where she assisted in event planning and independent consulting for a variety of businesses and individuals.

Mesalam, a native of Indianapolis, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Alabama in May of 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in commerce and business administration. In her final year, she was honored with the Rising Star Marketing Senior Award and was named to Who's Who of Executive and Professional Women in August of 2008.

She is currently pursuing a master's degree in sports management.
