Women's Basketball Hosts Southeastern Louisiana on Friday

Crimson Tide to play a pair of home games this weekend

Former women's basketball student-athlete and graduate assistant Leah Drury was welcomed back to the Capstone in April of 2010 as an assistant coach. Drury spent the past season at Pensacola Junior College where she helped lead the Pirates to a 24-6 record.

"I think Leah is going to be an outstanding coach for us," said Hudson. "She's been out in the recruiting world and approaches the game from a learning standpoint. When she was a graduate assistant here, all she wanted to talk about was coaching basketball. We are really looking forward to having Leah on staff, and we're excited for her to get started."

While at Pensacola Junior College, Drury was responsible for not only on-court coaching, but also oversaw team academics and completed all administrative duties. In addition, she was the head recruiting coordinator.

"I am excited to be returning to my alma mater," said Drury. "This is a great opportunity, and I feel fortunate to be a part of a coaching staff that will continue to bring the program back to a high level of competition."

Prior to her one-year stint with the Pirates, Drury served as a graduate assistant for two seasons at Alabama. Her primary responsibilities included editing game and practice film and film exchange. As a student-athlete, Drury went from being a walk-on to earning a scholarship and a starting role throughout much of her final two seasons. She averaged just under three points for her career and led the team in assists as a junior, averaging 2.4 per game.

An active member in the community, Drury was named to the SEC's Community Service team as a senior. She graduated with a bachelor's degree from the Capstone in December of 2006 where she majored in sports and fitness management. Drury then earned her master's from Alabama in May of 2009 with a degree in sport management.
