Tide Has Top Five Earn All-SEC for First Time Since 1976.

STARKVILLE, Miss. - The SEC Cross Country Championships were run Monday morning on the Mississippi State Cross Country Course in Starkville, Miss. The Alabama men's team competed on the 8,000 meter course in the meet hosted by Mississippi State University.

The Crimson Tide was led by junior Tyson David who placed second, just five seconds behind the leader, with a time of 23:16.26.

Following closely was the rest of the top five who all placed in the top 10. Junior Emmanuel Bor finished fifth and senior Augustus Maiyo finished sixth turning in times of 23:31.26 and 23:31.95, respectively. They were joined in the top 10 by senior Abraham Kutingala in ninth and sophomore Andrew Kirwa in tenth crossing the finish line in 23:43.25 and 23:53.05, respectively.

All five athletes earned All-SEC honors on the way to their second SEC Championship and first since 1973. This is only the second time in school history that the Tide's top five have all finished with All-SEC honors. The last coming in 1976 and that team finished second to Tennessee.

Freshman Zac Edwards finished in 29th place with a time of 24:59.06 which earned him an All-SEC Freshman Team selection. Edwards was the fourth freshman in the field to finish the race.

The top seven freshmen are selected to the All-SEC Freshman Team while the top 14 athletes overall are selected to the All-SEC Team.
