Men's Cross Country to Run at the Bill Dellinger Invitation in Eugene, Oregon.

TUSCALOOSA – The University of Alabama men’s cross country team will take their No. 17 ranking against the best in the country this weekend at the Bill Dellinger Invitation in Eugene, Oregon.

Saturday’s 15-team men’s field will feature three of the top six ranked teams in the national United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll (USTFCCCA) – returning NCAA runner-up No. 1 Wisconsin, No. 3 Oregon and No. 6 UTEP.

Five other men’s teams will compete this weekend ranked in the top 30 nationally, No. 11 Portland, No. 17 Alabama, No. 21 UCLA, No. 22 Cal Poly, No. 30 Washington. Ohio State, is also scheduled to run, received votes in the poll.

The Crimson Tide is coming off a very good performance at the annual Crimson Classic. Sophomore Emmanuel Bor won the race for the second consecutive year and in a close second was junior Augustus Maiyo. It was the first race of the season for both Maiyo and Bor who sat out the opener after a busy summer competing internationally.

Freshman Andrew Kirwa was the Tide’s top finisher at the season opener and named the SEC Freshman of the Week because of his performance.
