Sophomore Byron Gibson became the latest member of the Crimson Tide men’s track and field team to gain a berth in the NCAA Regional Championships, posting a qualifying time in the 110m hurdles.
Gibson posted a personal best time of 14.15 in the event to gain admission into the NCAA meet to be held in late May. His time ranks seventh in the SEC in the 110m hurdles.
Peter Etoot continued his success in the 800m claiming the Sun Angel championship with a time of 1:46.97, another NCAA Regional qualifying time.
Gibson and Etoot now give the Tide seven athletes in seven events that have qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships: Steven Boozer (Discus), Etoot (1,500m), Todd Fayant (3k Steeplechase), Chauncey Harris (100m) and the 4x100m relay team (Marcus Siwemuke, Lem Clayborn, Harris and Gibson).
