Following a weekend of competition in sunny Tampa, Florida, The University of Alabama men’s track and field team will take its show to sunny Tempe, Arizona to compete in the Sun Angel Classic on the campus of Arizona State University.
Crimson Tide Head Coach Harvey Glance hopes that the warm weather will do for his athletes what it did for them last weekend at the South Florida Invitational.
Alabama posted first place finishes in seven different events while posting three NCAA Regional qualifying results in the 100m (Chauncey Harris), the discus (Steven Boozer) and the Tide’s 4x100m relay team.
Sophomore All-American Peter Etoot will be looking to defend his 800m championship at the Sun Angel last season and if his results this early in the outdoor season are any indicator he should be the favorite to repeat. So far this season, Etoot has posted a Regional qualifying time in the 1,500m at the Stanford Invitational and he claimed first place in the 1,500m at last weekend’s meet. He also earned All-American status and the 2004 SEC Indoor Championship in the 800m earlier in the season as well.
The meet is scheduled to take place all day on Saturday, April 10.
