First day action at the 2003 Alabama Relays has completed and after all the dust had settled, Chris Martland of Belmont and Antisha Anderson of Ole Miss led at the halfway points of the decathlon and heptathlon.
Martland posted a score of 3,865 point upon completion of the first five events in the decathlon to claim a 536 point lead over his closest competitor Adam Golembeski of West Virginia.
Anderson took the lead away from Josie Hahn of Vanderbilt in the final event of the day in the heptathlon, the 200m, posting a score of 3,205 to Hahn's 3,100.
Both events will finish tomorrow with the decathlon getting under way at 9 a.m. and heptathlon starting at 10 a.m. Day 2 action will finish with the women's 10k at 5 p.m. and the men's 10k at 5:40 p.m.
