Following a week off from competition, the University of Alabama men’s track and field team is heading north this weekend to compete in the prestigious Meyo Invitational on the campus of the University of Notre Dame.
The young Crimson Tide team has impressed so far this season posting several personal best marks and times that rank that in the Top 10 in school history for each representative event.
Sophomores Peter Etoot and Chauncey Harris have led the way for Alabama this young season. Etoot has already claimed first place finishes in both the 800m and the mile run this season, while Harris has posted times that rank in the Top 10 in Alabama history in both the 60m dash and the 200m. Both times were personal bests for Harris.
Not to be outdone by his teammates, freshman Steven Boozer has posted personal bests in both the weight throw and the shot put. His mark in the weight throw was also the third longest throw in school history.
Also joining the Crimson Tide from the SEC at the meet will be the top-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks, the Ole Miss Rebels and the Kentucky Wildcats.
The 2004 Meyo Invitational is scheduled to begin Friday, Feb. 6 at 5:00 p.m., and continue Saturday, Feb. 7.
