The University of Alabama men’s track and field team will hit the road again this weekend as they head to Johnson City, Tennessee to compete in the Niswonger Invitational.
Coming off a successful weekend where the Tide tracksters posted four Top 10 times in school history in four different events and nine athletes overall posted personal bests in various events, Alabama Head Coach Harvey Glance just hopes to see some improvement and consistency from his young team.
“That’s the name of the game, trying to get better each week,” said Glance. “We’re just looking to improve on some marks and get more consistency. If we can get either of those I’ll be fairly happy.”
Glance is working with one of the youngest teams he’s had in his six previous seasons at Alabama. For the second straight week, the Crimson Tide is traveling approximately 25 guys, none of which are seniors.
Peter Etoot will highlight the field for Alabama as he was the lone event winner for the Crimson Tide last weekend at the Kentucky Invitational, where he posted a personal best time of 4:07.43 in the mile. It currently stands as the fastest time in the SEC.
The meet is scheduled to begin Friday at noon and the final event of the evening is set to begin at 9:00 p.m. Saturday’s events begin at 8:00 a.m. and run all day. All times are Eastern.
