DES MOINES, Iowa - The Alabama men's track and field team wrapped up its Friday competition at the 101st Annual Drake Relays at Drake Stadium with one individual and two relays advancing to the finals set for Saturday.

"I think, especially considering the weather being 56 degrees and raining, we got some real positive results," head men's track and field coach Harvey Glance said. "We've put ourselves in good position for tomorrow to compete well and I think we'll run much faster tomorrow with better weather conditions. The guys seem really fired up to run as well so hopefully we'll move into better position on the national as well as the regional list."

The Alabama 4x100 meter relay squad of junior Brandon Spradley, freshman Kirani James, senior Ray Jadusingh and senior Matt Watson combined for the fastest time of the day, advancing to the Saturday final with a season-best time of 40.04. It is currently the 18th-fastest time in the country.

Jadusingh returned to the oval three hours later to turn in a time of 10.54 (-0.7) in the 100 meter prelims, advancing to the final with the third-fastest time of the day.

The Tide 4x400 meter relay team of freshman Fabian Norgrove, freshman Kemar Norgrove, James and Watson collected for a season-best time, by nearly one second, of 3:09.78 to finish third, advancing to the finals set for Saturday.

During the "Relays Under the Lights" portion of the meet, the Crimson Tide 4x800 meter relay squad of sophomore Aaron Stockstell with juniors Joel Rop, Julius Bor and Fred Samoei combined for a time of 7:24.27 to finish eighth.

On Thursday, junior Andrew Kirwa clocked a 12-second, personal-best time of 9:00.93 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, finishing third overall.

"I was real proud of how the guys stayed focused," Glance said. "We're looking for some good things to happen tomorrow with better weather. We come here to bring exposure to this area and let everybody know that (Alabama) has a team and we've done that now."

The men return to Drake Stadium on Saturday at 1:11 p.m. (CDT) for the distance medley relay race.
