Men's Track & Field Starts 2011 Outdoor Season on Day Three of Alabama Relays
March 26, 2011 TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The No. 22 University of Alabama men’s track and field team completed its first day of outdoor action in 2011 today at the Alabama Relays hosted at the Sam Bailey Track & Field Stadium. “Today was just kind of one of those on-and-off meet days,” UA head coach Harvey Glance said. “The air came out of the atmosphere when we knew Kirani (James) was not going to compete due to a minor leg issue. We didn’t want to push anything on the first day, so we sat him out. Our other guys did a great job competing though and showed a lot of heart and desire out there.” Saturday was highlighted by two performances from senior All-Americans. Emmanuel Bor clocked a 3:52.43 which was third best in the 1,500m. Fred Samoei finished fourth in a crowded 400m field after posting a 49.10 in the final event of the day. Also on the track, Austin Duckworth finished fourth in the 5,000m with a time of 15:17.42 while freshman Dwayne Extol was third in the 400m hurdles at 52.78. The Crimson Tide will wrap up its first meet of the outdoor season Sunday. Admission to the Alabama Relays is free to the public and fans can earn Crimson Tide Rewards points for their attendance. The action will begin at 8 a.m. with the men’s hammer throw. Alabama Relays – UA Saturday Results 400m 800m 1,500m 5,000m 400m Hurdles Pole Vault
