SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The University of Alabama men’s track and field team completed its first day of competition at the Meyo Invitational Friday at the Loftus Sports Center on the campus of the University of Notre Dame.
 
Three Crimson Tide athletes competed in the Friday evening session, which featured more than 20 of the top collegiate track and field programs in the nation.
 
Senior Michael Hughes was the highlight of the evening for Alabama, finishing 12th in the pole vault with a 16-0.75 jump to match a personal best.
 
Junior Austin Duckworth finished 33rd in one of the most competitive 5,000m fields this year. The Vestavia Hills native posted a 15:35.89 finish.
 
Freshman Kamal Fuller competed in the 60m Hurdles, however he was disqualified with a false start.
 
The Tide will wrap up action at the Meyo Invitational Saturday. A full slate of action is scheduled to include Kirani James’ first run in the 400m this year and three athletes in the seeded mile run. For live results of Saturday's action, click here.
