Freshman (2008-09): Competed at the Kentucky Invitational for his only indoor meet of the year jumping 19-6 1/4...competed twice during the outdoor season in the triple jump with a season best leap of 46-9 1/4 coming at the Alabama Relays where he finished eighth...finished seventh in the triple jump (44-1 1/2) at the Mississippi Open.

Prep and Personal: Coached by Tony Green...placed seventh in the triple jump and fourth in the 4x400m relay at the Meet of Champions, respectively...also played varsity football for two years and was a 2nd team All-League Wide Receiver as well as won the Offensive Coaches Choice Award...member of the Black Student Union and was on the Academic Honor Roll every semester in high school...competed on the club team Oakland PAL coached by Maurice Valentine Sr....won three consecutive Regional Team Titles and four National Junior Olympic Championships...placed third in the triple jump and fourth in the 400m hurdles at the Junior Olympics Region 14 Championships...competed at the Junior Olympic Championships in Nebraska in the triple jump...Birthday: October 10, 1990...Parents: Ronald James Sr. and Christi Smith...Siblings: Kennedy Powell and Caron James...Majoring in Pre-Criminal Justice.
