TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The men's tennis team received three letters of intent in the November signing period from Hayes Brewer, Sean Donohue, and Saxon Buehning, announced head coach George Husack. All three will join the Crimson Tide for the 2013-14 season.
"We are thrilled to welcome Hayes, Sean and Saxon to The University of Alabama," said Husack. "All three possess a physical game, a strong work ethic and a competitive fire, which are key elements to be successful in the Southeastern Conference and on the national stage."
Brewer, a blue chip recruit from Marietta, Ga., has seen his stock rise consistently throughout the year, as he was ranked No. 46 in the USTA Southern Region at this point last year, but is now rated as the No. 1 player in the region. He has also been ranked as high as No. 22 nationally in boys 18 singles.
Donohue, who led his team to a fourth consecutive state championship at Saint Xavier High School in Louisville, Ky. as a junior, also took home the singles title in singles. He has been ranked as high as No. 61 nationally in singles and No. 10 in the USTA southern region. Donohue is also a five star recruit according to tennisrecruiting.net.
Buehning, a 6-1 lefty from Essex Falls, N.J., has trained at the renowned IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. for the past two years. His father, Fritz, was a former ATP pro, who was ranked in the top 20 in singles and top five in doubles.
"All three of our signees will have an immediate impact to the Crimson Tide tennis program," added Husack. "I am looking forward to coaching them."
