Men's Tennis has a pair Named to ITA Scholar-Athlete List

SKILLMAN, N.J. - Sophomore Daniil Proskura and freshman Rens van der Vis were named 2012 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athletes, which was announced by the organization this week.

Proskura, who is majoring in general business, also earned a spot on the Southeastern Conference Spring Honor Roll. He won a total of 18 singles matches and 13 doubles matches last season, picking up victories against four nationally-ranked opponents. Van der Vis, a civil engineering major, was recently named to the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll. He had three wins in singles and seven in doubles throughout his rookie season, winning all three of the dual matches he appeared in.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman thorough senior year).
