Doverspike Wins USTA Southern's US Open National Playoff

ATLANTA - Former Crimson Tide player and current women's tennis assistant coach Ricky Doverspike teamed with former Tennessee All-American Natalie Pluskota to win the USTA Southern's US Open National Playoff in mixed doubles. The duo defeated Marcus Hurtig and Abigail Tere-Apisah, 7-6(1), 3-6, 11-9, to capture the crown.

With the victory, Doverspike and Pluskota have earned a place in the US Open National Playoffs, which will be held Aug. 20-23, in New Haven, Conn. The winner of the playoffs, which will consist of the champions from the 13 USTA regionals, earns a wild card into the mixed doubles main draw at the 2014 US Open.
