The men's tennis team will, once again, be represented in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships as Daniil Proskura
was selected as one of 64 in the singles field, while he and partner Becker O'Shaughnessey
earned a 5-8 seed in the NCAA Doubles Championship. With that 5-8 seed, the duo also earns All-America status from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
This marks the second-straight year an Alabama doubles team has been named All-America, as Jarryd Botha and David Vieyra achieved the feat a year ago, and the seventh time in the program's history. Additionally, it is the second year in a row that the Tide has been represented in both the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships in the same season.
O'Shaughnessey and Proskura have had two successful seasons together, which started in 2013 and continued on into summer tournaments together. As the Tide's No. 1 duo, they have been ranked throughout the season and reached a high of No. 7 after defeating the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the nation in consecutive weeks. Together, O'Shaughnessey and Proskura have won 12 matches throughout the season, including five against ranked opponents.
Proskura, playing at the No. 1 singles position, is second on the team in singles victories and has won 11 matches at the top of the lineup. He has been ranked as high as No. 12 nationally and has defeated four ranked foes throughout the season. Recently, Proskura was awarded the Southeastern Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award for the second-straight season and was also named a First Team All-SEC honoree.
In all, Alabama has had 33 NCAA individual qualifiers in singles and 17 selections in doubles. O'Shaughnessey and Proskura are the third doubles team in program history to earn a top-eight seed.
Singles and doubles competition will take place May 21-26 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on the University of Georgia campus in Athens, Ga.
