TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -
Men's tennis head coach George Husack announced the addition of Andrew Goodwin for the upcoming season. Goodwin will join the Crimson Tide after playing two seasons at Southern Miss.
"Andrew is a tremendous addition to our program and fits our culture to a 'T'," said Husack. "When we saw him compete in the fall, the coaching staff and team referred to him as the 'Animal', as he competed so hard, regardless of the score or situation. His work ethic, passion for tennis and continued development will make an immediate impact. We are fortunate and happy to have Andrew part of the Crimson Tide family."
Goodwin currently leads the Golden Eagles in singles and doubles wins with 25 and 19, respectively. The Alpharetta, Ga., native holds a 16-7 record in singles in dual match play as well as an 11-9 mark in doubles, with 10 of those victories coming from the No. 1 position. As a freshman, Goodwin was Southern Miss' most consistent player, collecting a 22-7 record in singles, which included a pair of eight-match winning streaks.
In addition to his success on the court, Goodwin is equally accomplished in the classroom, earning a spot on the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll twice. He also earned a Conference USA Academic Medal, awarded to student-athletes with GPAs of 3.75 or higher, and was named an ITA Scholar-Athlete.
Goodwin is the fourth signee of Husack's first signing class at The Capstone, joining Hayes Brewer, Saxon Buehning and Sean Donohue.
