TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- Alabama senior men's tennis student-athlete Jordie Kindervater has been named to the 2008 Southeast Conference Community Service Team for his outstanding efforts in and around the Tuscaloosa community this year, the SEC office announced. Kindervater was named as the Alabama representative for the 12-member team for the second consecutive year.

Kindervater, a senior from St. John's, Newfoundland, participated in the Gatorade Get 60 event at a local elementary school helping children learn how to live an active lifestyle and eat a healthy diet. During the year, Kindervater also dedicated his time teaching inner city children how to play tennis through the Tuscaloosa Tennis Association. A four-year member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Kindervater also participated in the 2007 Tuscaloosa Walk to Defeat ALS.

The award is the first for Kindervater this year and the second for the Tide.
