TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- The Alabama men’s tennis team moved up three spots to No. 11 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll released today after winning three of its four matches and finishing second at the Blue Gray National Tournament in Montgomery last weekend.
The Crimson Tide (13-3, 3-1 SEC) is off to its best start since 2003 and the No. 11 ranking ties the 2003 squad’s Feb. 26 ranking of 11, the highest ranking since head coach Billy Pate took over the program that same year. The ranking is the fourth highest team ranking in the history of the program.
Georgia remains No. 1 in the polls with Ohio State, Virginia, Baylor and Notre Dame rounding out the top five. No. 9 Mississippi and No. 10 LSU are the only SEC teams ahead of the Tide, with Florida rounding out the top 25 at no. 25.
Alabama returns to conference play this weekend as they travel to Knoxville Friday, Mar. 23 to face the Vols then return home to host Georgia Sunday, Mar. 25.
