TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -
The Crimson Tide men's tennis team (9-7, 2-2 SEC) will take on the Auburn Tigers (13-5, 3-1 SEC) at home on Friday. Matches will be played at The University of Alabama Tennis Stadium and will begin at 5 p.m. CT.
The Crimson Racket Club will be hosting a free cookout for all fans in attendance prior to the match at the main entrance of the stadium. In addition, Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Scott Cochran will be on hand for the honorary first serve.
Alabama went 2-1 last weekend, picking up wins at LSU, 4-3, and home against The Citadel, 7-0. The Tide, playing shorthanded, dropped its lone match by a 4-3 decision to Arkansas. Stuart Kenyon went 6-0, winning all three of the doubles matches he played in as well as all three singles contests, including the clincher at LSU.
Alabama currently has two players ranked in singles with Daniil Proskura coming in at No. 21 and Becker O'Shaughnessey at No. 83. The two are also the No. 62 doubles team in the nation.
Auburn is coming off two wins last weekend after beating Arkansas, 4-3, and LSU, 4-1. Daniel Cochrane leads the Tigers at the top of the lineup in singles and is currently 12-1 in dual match play, which includes a 4-0 record in league contests. In doubles, Dennis Lengsfeld and Lukas Ollert hold a team-best 10-3 record in dual matches. Auburn's lone player ranked in singles is Cochrane, who is ranked No. 95.
Alabama leads the series with Auburn 56-31-1 and has won the last two matches against the Tigers, including a 4-1 victory earlier this season at the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic.
