TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- The University of Alabama men’s tennis program has grown to national prominence in the six years head coach Billy Pate has been at the helm.  During his tenure, Pate has led the Crimson Tide to four NCAA tournament appearances, including two NCAA Sweet 16 appearances in 2003 and again in 2007.

Coach Pate looks to continue the trend in 2008 by bringing in the 13th ranked recruiting class in the nation, announced the Tennis Recruiting Network.  Incoming freshmen Richard Doverspike, John Lewis and Creighton Blanchard will join the team in the fall of 2008.

Alabama is one of only two SEC schools in the top 15, with Kentucky leading at No. 4.  Florida and Vanderbilt trail the Tide in the top 25 at Nos. 17 and 20 respectively.

The Tide, 5-0, 0-0 SEC, heads on the road this weekend to face UC-Irvine and No. 16 Pepperdine.  For more information on Alabama men’s tennis, visit www.rolltide.com.
