BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
The men’s tennis team picked up two wins on Tuesday at the Futures tournament in Birmingham with Becker O'Shaughnessey
winning in singles and Daniil Proskura
and O’Shaughnessey in doubles.
O’Shaughnessey’s singles match came down to the wire as he split sets, 7-5, 6-7(3), with former Louisville No. 1 player Andrew Carter. In the third, O’Shaughnessey broke midway through the set and won the final two games to take the match, 6-4.
Not long after getting off the court in singles, O’Shaughnessey headed back with partner Proskura for doubles where the Tide duo rolled to a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Walker Duncan and Korey Lovett.
Match play resumes on Wednesday at the Highland Park Tennis Club. In singles, Proskura will take on Nik Scholtz, Stuart Kenyon will face Connor Farren and assistant coach Ryler DeHeart will play Damon Gooch, while O’Shaughnessey and Proskura are slated to take on Nicolas Meister and Farren in doubles.
