TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The men's tennis team won seven matches on Thursday during the first day of play at the 2013 USTA/ITA Southern Regional Championships, being hosted at The University of Alabama.
Brian Conlon and Stuart Kenyon, the Crimson Tide's lone doubles team in action in the first round, posted on 8-5 victory over Nicholls State's Sam Meesen and Nico Mertens.
From there, Alabama took the court for singles where it picked up six wins on the day. Kenyon, Saxon Buehning and Andrew Goodwin all won first round matchups. In the second round, Hayes Brewer and Becker O'Shaughnessey both advanced in straight sets and Kenyon went on to win his match in three, dominating the third set, 6-0.
Match play resumes Friday at 8:30 a.m. with the second round of doubles. Two rounds of singles will follow.
