Men's Tennis Earns Six Wins on Sunday at Tom Fallon Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The men's tennis team added six more wins on the third, and final, day of play at the Tom Fallon Invitational. The Crimson Tide earned wins over opponents from both Michigan and Michigan State on Sunday.
The day began with singles matches where Alabama won four of the seven matches it competed in. Becker O'Shaughnessey took his first set, 6-3, over the Spartans' Denis Bogatov and would win the match by retirement. The Tide's additional three wins in singles all came in straight sets as Jarryd Botha beat Michigan State's Harry Jadun, 6-3, 6-3, Rens van der Vis topped the Spartans' Christian Roehmer, 6-4, 6-1, and Harris Barnard took down Paul Heeder, also from Michigan State, 6-1, 6-1.
In doubles, Alabama earned a pair of 8-4 victories with Botha and O'Shaughnessey beating the Wolverines' Vlad Stefan and Barrett Franks, while Daniil Proskura and David Vieyra ousted Michigan's Michael Zhu and Alex Buzzi.
The Tide will be back in action in two weeks when it heads to Auburn for the USTA/ITA Southern Regional Championships, which will run Oct. 18-22. The winner of the singles and doubles draws at the tournament will earn a spot in the 2012 USTA/ITA National Collegiate Indoor Championships in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.
