Men's Tennis Begins Match Play at Tom Fallon Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The men’s tennis team got its first round of matches in, despite the rainy weather, at the 2012 Tom Fallon Invitational on Friday. Overall, the Crimson Tide played in eight singles matches, coming away with a win, thanks to Becker O’Shaughnessey’s 7-6(2), 4-6, 1-0(6) victory over the Irish’s Billy Pecor. An additional two matches were played out in three sets as Notre Dame’s Blas Moros topped Daniil Proskura, 7-5, 5-7, 1-0(9), while Spencer Talmadge posted a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0(8) victory against Alabama’s Stuart Kenyon. Also representing the Tide was Jarryd Botha, Philippe Tsangarides, David Vieyra, Rens van der Vis and Harris Barnard, who were all edged out by their Notre Dame opponents. Matches will resume on Saturday at the tournament and will run through Sunday afternoon.
