LEXINGTON, Ky. -
The men’s tennis team earned two more wins at the SEC Coaches’ Indoor Championships on Saturday at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex. Both of the Crimson Tide’s victories came in singles.
Senior Ricky Doverspike and freshman Filippos Tsangaridis were scheduled to take on seniors Chris and Marcel Thiemann of Mississippi, however the Alabama duo would back out due to injury. Alabama’s other team of senior Michael Thompson and freshman David Vieyra took on the Vanderbilt team of senior Alex DiValerio and freshman Joe Dorn in the doubles consolation draw, where the Commodores would come out in front 8-4.
In singles, Vieyra pulled out a hard-fought victory topping Georgia sophomore Garrett Brasseaux, 7-5, 7-6(5). In his second match of the day, Vieyra would be edged by South Carolina freshman Kyle Koch, 6-2, 6-7(6), 10-7.
