TAMPA, FLA. – In all four of his fall 2003 tournaments, University of Alabama senior golfer Lars Brovold has finished among the Top 25 individuals. His latest finish came at the Cleveland Golf/Gary Koch Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon here. Brovold shot 75-68-73/216 to finish 16th at even par.
The tournament, hosted by the University of Florida at Tampa’s Old Memorial Golf Course, was won by Georgia Tech which finished 22 under par, besting the field of 15 teams by shooting 272-283-287/842. Florida finished second (857), followed by TCU (860), Arkansas (863), Kentucky (867), Georgia State (872), LSU (877), Central Florida (886), Florida State (887), North Carolina State (889), North Florida (890), Alabama (895), South Florida (895), College of Charleston (896), and Ole Miss (898).
Florida’s Matt Every shot 11 under par for the tournament (69-70-66/205) to take the individual championship.
For Alabama, Stewart Whitt finished 42nd (72-73-79/224); Clint Provost 53rd (75-77-75/227; Lance Walker 55th (73-80-75/228) and Austin Hynson 74th (75-85-79/239).
The tournament marked the final fall tournament for Alabama. The Crimson Tide will resume its 2003-04 season on January 31st in Gainesville, Fla., with Florida again as its team host, this time at the Gator Invitational on the University of Florida’s campus.
