Tide Men's Golf Team Remains No. 2 in 2nd Coaches' Poll

TUSCALOOSA -  On Wednesday the second Golf World/Nike Golf Division I Coaches’ Poll of the season was released, and the University of Alabama men’s golf team remained at No. 2 in the nation.

Stanford, the defending NCAA champion, kept its spot at the top as the nation’s No. 1 ranked team in the Coaches’ Poll by a narrow margin over Alabama. The Cardinal earned nine of the 22 first-place votes but leads Alabama by but a three point margin. Georgia and UCLA are tied at No. 3. Florida is No. 5, Southern Cal No. 6, Oklahoma State No. 7, Florida State No. 8, Charlotte No. 9, Clemson No. 10, Texas A&M No. 11, Georgia Tech No. 12, Duke No. 13, Coastal Carolina No. 14, Tennessee No. 15, UNLV No. 16, Arizona State No. 17, Louisville No. 18, East Tennessee State No. 19, Wake Forest No. 20, Lamar No. 25, South Carolina No. 22, Texas No. 23, Michigan State No. 24, and, rounding out the Top 25, Georgia State, coached by former Tide golfer Matt Clark, is No. 25. From the Southeastern Conference, Auburn and Kentucky also received votes.

Alabama has played in two tournaments so far this fall, winning the Carpet Capital Collegiate this past weekend and finishing second in Japan’s TOPY Cup in early September. Alabama returns to the course to compete on Saturday and Sunday, September 22-23 at the Golfweek/PING Preview in West Lafayette, Ind., where 13 of the 15 teams in that field are among this week’s Golf World Top 25, including No. 2 Alabama, No. 5 Florida, No. 6 Southern California, No. 7 Oklahoma State, No. 8 Florida State,  No. 9 Charlotte, No. 11 Texas A&M, No. 14 Coastal Carolina, No. 16 UNLV, No. 17 Arizona State, No. 18 Louisville, No. 21 Lamar, and No. 25 Georgia State.
