Bobby Wyatt Advances to Match Play at U.S. Amateur

BROOKLINE, Mass. - Alabama's Bobby Wyatt advanced out of stroke-play qualifying and into the match-play portion of this week's United States Amateur on Tuesday at The Country Club as the 312-player field was cut to the top 64.

Wyatt, from Mobile, Ala., finished tied for 38th with a 3-over-par total of 143. He opened with a 1-over 71 on Monday at the Charles River Country Club and followed that up with a 2-over 72 on Tuesday at The Country Club.

Wyatt will face Rico Hoey of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., in Wednesday's first round of match play.

Cory Whitsett (t88th, +6), Justin Thomas (t108th, +7), Scott Strohmeyer (t199th, +12), Lee Knox (t199th, +12)and incoming freshman Robby Shelton (t67th, +5) all missed the cut.
