July 29, 2010

MOBILE, Ala. - Alabama men's golf signee Bobby Wyatt won his fourth consecutive Boys' State Junior Championship Thursday at The Country Club of Mobile, closing out a phenomenal three days with a 30-foot birdie putt on the final hole.

The first person to ever win the tournament three times, Wyatt is now the only one to win it four times. The Mobile, Ala., native shot an 18-under 195, with scores of 68-57-70, to win the tourney and finish six shots ahead of his nearest competitor. Another Crimson Tide signee, Trey Mullinax of Mount Olive, Ala., was third at 204.

Wyatt posted a record-shattering 57 on the tourney's second day, setting a new course and event record. The historic round came courtesy of a 26 on the front nine with seven birdies and an eagle on the 518-yard, par-5 seventh hole. He finished the back nine with five birdies and just missed a birdie putt on the 18th to card a 57 and obliterate the previous course record by six strokes.
