MOBILE, Ala. - University of Alabama men’s golf signee Bobby Wyatt shot a 14-under-par 57 on Wednesday to take an eight-stroke lead on the second day of the Alabama Boys’ State Junior Championship at the Country Club of Mobile.

Wyatt’s round, a new course and event record, puts the Mobile native in prime position to win his fourth consecutive Boys’ State Junior Championship in Thursday’s final round. The record-setting round came courtesy of a 26 on the front nine with seven birdies and an eagle on the 518-yard, par-5 seventh hole. He finished the back nine with five birdies and just missed a birdie putt on the 18th to card a 57 and shatter the course record by six strokes.

Wyatt shot a 3-under-par 68 in the opening round and is 17-under-par with an eight-stroke lead over Smylie Kaufman. Wyatt’s future Alabama teammate Trey Mullinax is tied for fourth at 4-under-par with rounds of 68 and 70.
