Europe Stages Comeback to Win Palmer Cup

NEWCASTLE, County Down, England - The European Palmer Cup team staged an impressive comeback in the final round on Saturday, winning seven-of-eight matches and earning a half in the other match for 13.5-10.5 victory at The Royal County Down Golf Club.

Alabama's Justin Thomas fell 4 and 3 to Europe's Daan Huizing. Huizing won the first two holes with birdie and led by at least 2 up the entire match. He ran his advantage to 4 up after seven holes. Huizing recorded six birdies and an eagle through 15 holes.

Thomas won 2.5 points for the Americans while going 0-1-1 in his singles matches. He carved out a half on Friday but winning the 18th hole with a birdie.

The Palmer Cup results now stand at 8-7-1 in favor of the United States.
