TUSCALOOSA Mark Harrell, a 2005 United States Amateur participant who will be a junior on the University of Alabama’s golf team this fall, won the championship at the Greystone Invitational Sunday in Birmingham.
The Hazelhurst, Ga., native had three birdies and no bogeys in his final round to claim the win. Harrell shot 69-68-69/206 to finish the tournament at ten under par on Greystone Country Club’s Legacy Course.
His Alabama teammate, Gator Todd of Florence, finished third. Todd, who will also be a junior at Alabama this fall, shot 70-67-71/208 to finish eight under par and two strokes back.
Also competing in the tournament from the Crimson Tide’s 2005-06 golf team were Stewart Whitt (67-83-72/222), Thomas Hagler (73-77-73/223), and Max Alverio (77-72-75/224).
