ROCKY FACE, Ga. - The top-ranked Alabama men's golf team shot a 1-over-par round of 289 on Saturday during the second round of the Carpet Capital Collegiate at the par-72, 7,102-yard Farm Golf Club.
The Crimson Tide is tied for third a 3-under-par 573 after 36 holes of play. Texas took the second-round lead after a scorching 22-under-par round of 266 on Saturday. The Longhorns are 17-under 559 with Georgia in second place at 14-under 562. LSU and Clemson are tied with Alabama in third at 573.
Sophomore Justin Thomas led Alabama on Saturday with a 2-under 70. He is tied for 14th at 2-under 142 headed into Sunday final round at The Farm Golf Club.
Junior Bobby Wyatt followed up his first-round 67 with an even-par 72 in round two. He is tied for sixth individually at 5-under 139. Redshirt freshman Tom Lovelady also carded an even-par 72 on Saturday and is 1-over 145 after 36 holes, tied for 26th.
Junior Cory Whisett shot 3-over 75 in the second round and is tied for 37th at 2-over 146. Senior Scott Strohmeyer was the Tide's drop score, shooting a 4-over 76. He is tied for 65th at 8-over 153.
The Crimson Tide will tee off at 7:45 a.m. on Sunday for the final round of the Carpet Capital Collegiate. UA will play with Clemson and Wake Forest in the final round.
