GREENSBORO, Ga. - The second-ranked Alabama men's golf team has a 13-shot lead more than halfway through the second round, which was called due to darkness, of the Linger Longer Invitational on the par-72, 7,073-yard Great Waters Course at Reynolds Plantation on Saturday.

The event was scheduled for 36 holes but a thunderstorm midway through the first round suspended play for two hours and 18 minutes. When play resumed, Alabama closed out the opening round with the team lead at 7-under-par 281, eight shots better than No. 14 Oklahoma State.

When play was called due to darkness Saturday evening, the Crimson Tide were on holes 12-14 of their second round and were 6-under as a team in round two for a 13-under cumulative total. The Tide has a 13-shot lead over Oklahoma State and host Kennesaw State after both teams ended Saturday at even-par for the day.

Play will resume on Sunday at 7:30 a.m. (CDT) with the conclusion of the second round, immediately followed by the third and final round.

Alabama junior Cory Whitsett is in search of his third straight win at the Linger Longer Invitational and is tied for the lead at the finish of play on Saturday. He is 5-under-par with 30 holes of play in the books. He shot a scorching 5-under-par 67 in round one to hold the lead. Oklahoma's Michael Gellerman, playing as an individual, is 1-under on the second round to equal Whitsett's total heading into play on Sunday.

Sophomore Justin Thomas, who is coming off of a win at the Schenkel Invitational last weekend, is tied for eighth at 2-under par. He also shot 71 in the first round and is 1-under in round two with six holes remaining in the round.

Trey Mullinax was the Tide's fourth-counting score in round one with an even-par 72. He is 1-over on his second round and tied for 21st at 1-over par. Scott Strohmeyer's 79 was dropped in the first round, but he is 2-under through 13 holes in the second round.
