LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The top-ranked Alabama men's golf team posted a closing score of 299 in the final round of play at the 2014 Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters Sunday at the par-72, 7,012-yard Southern Highlands Country Club to finish tied for fourth place with UCLA.

The Crimson Tide never found its rhythm in Las Vegas, shooting 11-over par in Sunday's final round, which was their third consecutive day to do so as a team. The Tide wrapped up the event with a 54-hole total of 897, 33-over par, and 11 shots off the lead. Host UNLV captured the tournament title In dramatic fashion at 22-over 886, narrowly escaping Stanford and Oklahoma State, who tied for second at 24-over 888. Stanford's Patrick Rodgers collected top individual honors at 1-over 217.

Senior Bobby Wyatt produced the only under par round of the Tide's five players Sunday, carding a 2-under 70 that vaulted him into 21st place. The senior from Mobile, Ala. had an exceptional first nine holes, playing bogey free with birdies on the seventh and ninth holes. His only bogey on the day came on the 15th hole, but was followed with a birdie on the next hole. He finished 9-over par for the tournament after rounds of 76 on Friday and 79 on Saturday.

Freshman Robby Shelton just missed another top 10 finish with a tie for 17th after shooting 77 Sunday. Prior to the tournament, Shelton had earned medalist honors in three of the Tide's six tournaments this season. His 5-over par effort was his worst in the three-day event. Shelton closed the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters with a 7-over 223.

The senior duo of Cory Whitsett and Trey Mullinax finished the day with scores of 77 and 79, respectively. The score was Whitsett's highest of the tournament and the eventual drop score for the Tide on Sunday. The Houston native capped the weekend tied for 26th place at 7-over 226. Mullinax finished alone at 58th at 233 (+17).

The Tide's only sophomore on the roster, Tom Lovelady, fired a 75 on the day which moved him into a tie for 34th. He finished the weekend at 12-over 228.
