LAS VEGAS -
The No. 1 Alabama men's golf team shot 11-over-par 299 in the second round of the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters Saturday at the par-72, 7,374-yard Southern Highlands Country Club to move into at tie for third.
The Crimson Tide is within six shots of UNLV's lead at 22-over 598. The Rebel shot 303 in the second round and are 16-over 592 headed into Sunday's final round. Stanford shot the lowest round of the day with a 9-over 297 to move into second place at 18-over 594. UCLA is tied with the Tide at 598 while Oklahoma State is fifth at 601.
Freshman Robby Shelton is pacing the Crimson Tide at 2-over 146. He is in third place individually after shooting a 74 on Saturday. He is three shots back of Stanford's Patrick Rodgers.
Senior Cory Whitsett also shot 74 in the second round and is tied for fourth at 3-over 147. Sophomore Tom Lovelady came through with a solid 75 in difficult conditions for the Tide's third score and is tied for 32nd overall at 9-over 153.
Trey Mullinax shot 76 Saturday to count as the Tide's fourth score. He is tied for 45th at 12-over 156. Bobby Wyatt's 79 was dropped from the team total Saturday and his is tied for 40th at 11-over 155.
Alabama will be paired with Oklahoma State and Oklahoma in Sunday's final round from the Southern Highlands Golf Club in Las Vegas.
