Hamrick played in the 2006 U.S. Amateur ... was the youngest player in the field at the 2006 U.S. Amateur (age 16) ... played in the 2003 U.S. Junior Amateur, and at age 13, was the youngest in the field ... December 2007 graduate of Montgomery Academy ... was highlighted in Sports Illustrated's "Faces in the Crowd" section in the February 11, 2008, issue because of his graduating from high school early and his accolades (five top four finishes in the Class 3A tournament dating to the 7th grade, he didn't get to compete as a senior because he'd graduated), three individual titles and five team titles ... finished 2nd in stroke play at the 2007 U.S. Junior Championship ... won the 2007 Blue-Gray High School Invitational with a 2-under 142, including a Montgomery Academy record round of 65 ... won his first of three individual state high school titles as an eighth grader (won in 2005, 2006 and 2007) ... finished second in the state as a seventh grader ... owns the Montgomery Academy wins record with 1,334 (win for every golfer a player beats in a match or tournament, excluding teammates) ... sophomore stroke average was 72.3 ... freshman stroke average of 72.8 ... coached by Tim Bethea, who with Hamrick's help, won five consecutive 3A state championships.
