In 2008, Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide returned to Tiger Stadium for the first time since his tenure as the Miami Dolphins head coach. Alabama entered the game as the No. 1 ranked team in all major polls, and defeated the LSU Tigers 27–21 in overtime. LSU was stopped in overtime when Jarrett Lee threw his fourth interception of the game as Rashad Johnson intercepted a pass in the endzone to stop the Tigers, giving the ball to Alabama. John Parker Wilson scored for the Tide preserving Bama’s unblemished record and a trip to the SEC Championship game.
