The Crimson Tide continued preparations for its season opener with a two-hour practice in full pads in the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility on Thursday afternoon. The practice was the 22nd of fall camp, leaving Alabama nine days away from kicking off its 2014 slate against West Virginia in the Georgia Dome on Aug. 30.

Earlier in the day, junior defensive back Landon Collins and junior wide receiver Amari Cooper were named to ESPN.com's Preseason All-America Team. Collins, a semifinalist for the 2013 Jim Thorpe Award, recorded 70 tackles, including four for loss, two interceptions and eight pass breakups, while Cooper has 104 career receptions for 1,736 yards and 15 touchdowns for his career. The Crimson Tide football team held its first scrimmage of training camp inside Bryant-Denny Stadium under a steady rain on Saturday afternoon. Weather also forced a 40-minute delay midway through the scrimmage due to lightning.

"The scrimmage started out with really good intensity," said Alabama head coach Nick Saban. The football team held its 2014 Fan Day presented by Alumni Hall festivities at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Sunday. There was an estimated 3,500 fans on hand for the open practice and autograph session.

The open practice started with heavy rain but the sun soon returned as the Crimson Tide practiced for roughly two hours. The Tide worked in shells (shorts, shoulder pads and helmets) for the first time this camp, focusing on basic offensive, defensive and special teams drills.
